Phoenix Suns Deal Away O'Neale, Roddy for Draft Capital
In a blockbuster trade, the Phoenix Suns have acquired forwards Royce O'Neale and David Roddy from the Brooklyn Nets in exchange for four unprotected first-round picks, a protected first-round pick, a 2025 Suns pick swap, and a 2027 Suns first-rounder. The Nets also receive a first-round pick and swap in 2029 from the Houston Rockets as part of the deal.
The trade marks a significant win for the Nets, who have now acquired five first-round picks in this year's draft. In addition to the picks received from the Suns, they also acquired a first-round pick from the Dallas Mavericks in the Kyrie Irving trade.
For the Suns, the move allows them to add a veteran wing in O'Neale and a promising young forward in Roddy while sacrificing some future draft capital. O'Neale, a 30-year-old defensive specialist, provides depth and experience on the wing, while Roddy is a 21-year-old who averaged 14.4 points and 6.7 rebounds per game in his rookie season with the Memphis Grizzlies.
The trade is expected to be finalized before the NBA's trade deadline on Thursday.
