Alan Hansen, the former Liverpool star who was a mainstay in the early years of Match of the Day, cut an unrecognisable figure in new photos.

The 68-year-old, who was capped 26 times for Scotland, looked frail and thin as he was seen out and about in London.

Hansen captained Liverpool during the club's dominance of English football in the 1970s and 1980s, winning eight league titles, three European Cups and two FA Cups.

He retired from playing in 1991 and became a pundit for the BBC, where he was a regular on Match of the Day until 2014.

Hansen has been open about his struggles with ill health in recent years, revealing in 2019 that he had been diagnosed with Parkinson's disease.

His appearance in the new photos has sparked concern among fans, who have taken to social media to express their well wishes.

One fan wrote: "Alan Hansen looks so frail in these new photos. It's heartbreaking to see someone who was once so full of life looking so unwell."

Another added: "My thoughts are with Alan Hansen and his family. He's a true Liverpool legend and it's sad to see him struggling with his health."

Hansen's family have not yet commented on the new photos.
